Európai erdőmonitoring konferencia Sopronban
A Soproni Egyetem Erdészeti Tudományos Intézete és az Agrárminisztérium szervezésében, március 2-4 között Sopronban tartotta szakértői munkacsoportjainak éves egyeztető értekezletét az európai erdők közös monitoring programjának közössége (ICP Forest). Az eseményen közel 20 ország, közel 100 szakértője vett részt személyesen, illetve on-line platformokon. Az immáron 40 éves múltra visszatekintő monitoring program meteorológiai, növekedési, fonológiai és depozíciós vizsgálatokat folytató munkacsoportjai a programot koordináló testület képviselőivel vitatták meg az aktuális témákat és feladatokat. Az összevont szakértői munkacsoport értekezleten aktuális téma volt az erdők vízháztartás modellezésének kérdésköre, valamint ismertette terveit az újonnan létrejött távérzékelési munkacsoport, amelynek - nagy örömünkre - egyik társ-munkacsoportvezetői posztjára kollégánkat, az ERTI Ökológiai és Erdőművelési Osztályának munkatársát, Dr. Molnár Tamást választották, akinek ezúton is gratulálunk.
A baráti, családias hangulatú eseményen nyugdíjba vonulása alkalmából a közösség megköszönte Dr. Marco Ferretti elnök úr munkáját, amit az elmúlt 40 évben aktív kutatóként, 2017 óta pedig a testület elnökeként, az ICP Forest céljaiért és érdekében végzett.
A konferencia zárásaként a csoport a TAEG ZRt és az AM közreműködésével kirándulást tett a Sopron környéki erdőkben. Meglátogattuk az Erdő Háza látogatóközpontot, megismertük a helyi gazdálkodás kihívásait és releváns mintapontokon tájékoztatást adtunk a résztvevőknek a Nemzeti Szisztematikus Erdőleltár, valamint a hosszúlejáratú, fatermési tartamkísérletek módszertanáról, eredményeiről. A résztvevők új ismeretekkel és élményekkel gazdagodva tértek haza. Folytatás májusban, Dubrovnikban: Forecomon 2026.

European Forest Monitoring Conference in Sopron
Organized by the University of Sopron Forest Research Institute and the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture, the European forest monitoring programme ICP Forests held the annual coordination meeting of its expert working groups in Sopron between 2–4 March.
Nearly 100 experts from around 20 countries participated in the event, both in person and via online platforms. The monitoring programme—now with a history of more than 40 years—includes working groups conducting meteorological, growth, phenological and deposition studies. During the meeting, these groups discussed current topics and future tasks together with representatives of the programme’s coordinating body.
The joint expert working group meeting also addressed the modelling of forest water balance. In addition, the newly established Remote Sensing Working Group presented its future plans. We are proud that our colleague, Tamás Molnár, researcher at the Ecology and Silviculture Department of the Forest Research Institute, has been elected as one of the co-chairs of this working group. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him.
In the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the event, the community also expressed its appreciation to Marco Ferretti on the occasion of his retirement. Over the past 40 years he has contributed to the goals of ICP Forests as an active researcher and, since 2017, as the chair of the coordinating body.
As a closing programme of the conference, participants visited forests around Sopron with the support of TAEG Forestry Company and the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture. The group visited the House of Forests Visitor Centre, learned about the challenges of local forest management, and at selected sample plots received information on the methodology and results of the National Forest Inventory as well as long-term yield experiments. Participants returned home with valuable insights and professional experiences.
